Khabarovsk, July 2004
Hi everybody!
Have coagulase-negative staphylococci ever been
proven to cause prostatitis?
This question has been discussed
during the fifth Disease Management Symposium on "Modern Pharmacotherapy
in Urology", on May 20-21, 2004. And you can find the response by
clicking this
link.
This meeting was innovative in a number of ways. The venue was unusual.
Khabarovsk, Far East of Russia, is a pretty city located on the bank of
the impressive Amur River, facing Mandchourian mountains. The conference
was organized by a joint team from Russia, Japan, Korea and the International
group of ISC, comprising both urologists and infectious diseases specialists.
The programme, followed by about 600 attendees from participating countries,
featured different aspects of Urinary Tract Infections as well as prostatic
cancer, benigne hypertrophy of the prostate and erectile dysfunctions.
Abstracts and selected slides from the meeting are made available by clicking
here. And in case you want further details while reading abstracts
and slide presentations, just click on the provided e-mail address: authors
will be more than pleased to discuss with you.
An important move was decided during the meeting. Pan Eurasian prevalence
study on nosocomial UTI will be performed next November, and it appears
already that this study will be the largest ever made. We anticipate that
several hundred hospitals from the two continents will participate. Of
course you are cordially invited to join: to start the process, just contact
the Professor Kurt Naber naberk@Klinikum-straubing.de
He will then provide you with all the details.
Remember the quiz of our last letter: how many days
per year could be counted on earth 4 billions years ago? The response
is astonishing, just click.
Warm regards to all,
