Straubing / Germany, April 2006

Dear friends,

The Executive Committee of the ISC met during the recent ECCMID in Nice.
The committee is most grateful to those individuals and organisations that contributed towards the JD Williams Memorial Award. The amount of money donated, which is till rising, reflects the high level of respect and affection, which he merited. The Award, for presentations at the ICC, will be given to young scientists from countries with limited resources, for their contribution to the science of chemotherapy.

The committee is encouraged by the early success of the online facility for submission of manuscripts to the ISC publication; International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents. IJAA goes from strength to strength; online usage has increased significantly over the last five years and the impact factor (2.064 in 2004) is rising at a faster rate than its close competitors.
