Dear Friends,
First of all, at the start of this new year, I would like to wish you all a healthy, happy and successful 2011. We hope to see as many of you as possible at the first three meetings organized by the International Society of Chemotherapy during the year.
2011 also marks the 50th anniversary of the ISC, and is highlighted in the January edition of the society journal, International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents. We hope you can join us at one of the celebrations planned during the year to mark this milestone.
The most important of these celebrations will be during the 27th ICC, held jointly with the 21st ECCMID, which will take place in Milan from May 7-11. We have received 3,735 abstracts and hope that the number of participants will be very high to this prestigious congress.
A second celebration will be held during the 5th ISC International Conference “Focus on Gastrointestinal Tract Oncology” (Florence March 4-5).
The third celebratory event will be held in April at Punta del Este, Uruguay, at the XV Pan American Congress on Infectious Diseases, which will involve all the South American Societies affiliated with the ISC. These Societies are some of the most numerous and active of our Federation.

The theme of this conference is Molecular Targets, Pharmacology and Clinical Applications "Focus on Gastrointestinal Tract Oncology". This meeting continues the series of important scientific meetings organized under the auspices of ISC, where the latest knowledge in the field of anticancer drug research and development, pharmacology and clinical applications is presented and discussed. It provides an important opportunity for physicians and scientists involved in clinical and translational research in the field of gastrointestinal oncology to meet. The programme will include several symposia covering recent advances in this area. Poster sessions are also planned. There will be ample space and opportunity for discussion during the meeting and there will be no parallel sessions. Participants interested in presenting data should submit abstract by e-mail (a.batistini@oic.it) by 31 January 2011. Early registration rates are available until January 31, 2011.
