Recently, a research grant, up to a maximum of € 50,000, sponsored by the ISC Working Group on Endocarditis and Bloodstream Infections (BSI) to support scientific research projects in the field of antimicrobial chemotherapy of endocarditis and bloodstream infections was advertised.

Successful Application

The successful applicant was Professor David L. Paterson on behalf of the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Network. They are currently working on a “Randomised Controlled Trial of Meropenem versus Piperacillin-Tazobactam for Definitive Treatment of Bloodstream Infections Due to Ceftriaxone Non-Susceptible Escherichia coli and Klebsiella spp.”

The results of this study will be published in due course.
